President's Message

Over the past few weeks, our country has experienced tragedies which have caused us to mourn, reflect, and seek to understand the underlying issues that prompt these events.  It has also caused us to reaffirm our commitment to advocate for change and be a voice for traditionally underserved students and marginalized communities. 

Helios Education Foundation is committed to creating opportunities for students to succeed in postsecondary education.  We believe that education changes lives and strengthens communities.  However, we also know that a student’s ability to succeed is interwoven with the communities in which they live.  Recent events are reminders that our students need more than a high-quality teacher and strong curriculum.  They also need to be safe, secure, and respected for who they are and the value they bring as individuals.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion remains at the forefront of our work.  We are committed to advancing educational excellence and success through the lens of equity and social justice.  We are laser focused on closing achievement gaps and increasing postsecondary attainment.  We are embracing civic learning and civic engagement.  And, we will to continue to raise our voice in support of the value that diversity brings in our schools and our communities.
