Helios Education Foundation Names Chevy Humphrey to Board of Directors
Recognized national and international leader in education and museums, Chevy Humphrey has been appointed to the Helios Education Foundation Board of Directors. Humphrey served as president and CEO of the Arizona Science Center for 15 years and became the first woman and the first Black American to be President and CEO of the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago in 2021.
“Chevy Humphrey makes every institution she is a part of stronger and more effective. Her keen focus on the needs of those she serves—community members, schools, and students—means she leads with a vision that drives change, for individuals and systems,” said Helios’s Founding Chairman Vince Roig. “We are thrilled to have Chevy join Helios at this moment of education recovery; she will help us chart our path.”
Humphrey is a recognized community leader and supporter of opening doors for students often limited from opportunities. Throughout her career, Humphrey has served as a mentor to young women, ensuring they have the supports and structures they need to fulfill their professional and personal potential and to transform society.
“The education of our next generation of innovators and leaders will determine the future. I am honored to join the Helios board and help the Foundation transform learning outcomes throughout Arizona and Florida,” said Chevy Humphrey. “Helios’s focus on low-income and under-represented students is the right approach at the right time, and I can’t wait to help realize that potential.”
Since 2004, Helios Education Foundation has invested nearly $300 million in partnerships and initiatives dedicated to improving education outcomes for students in Arizona and Florida.
