A YES vote on Prop 308 is a YES vote for Arizona’s future

Prop 308 is an important issue—for all of Arizona.

Prop 308 would ensure that all Arizona high school graduates pay in-state tuition. There would be no tax increase. So, if you have lived in Arizona for more than two years, and have graduated from an Arizona high school—no matter where you were born—Prop 308 would make you eligible for in-state tuition rates and state-funded scholarships. That’s true whether you were born in Arizona or you were born in another country.

Helios stands with DREAMers. These are students who have worked hard and see education as a way to advance their lives, their families, and our communities. And we agree, education is the way to advance people’s lives and to advance Arizona.

These students are not asking for special favors. They meet the same admission standards as other Arizona students. So, they should not have to pay 1.5 times the tuition other Arizona students do. And we can do this without a tax increase.

This is a of fairness and a matter of economics which is why Prop 308 has bi-partisan legislative and community support.

Every single college graduate adds more than a half million dollars (in fact $660,000) to the Arizona economy. To remain competitive, we need to add as much as we can to the Arizona economy. So, we can’t afford to lose these students—or their contributions.

This state has a tremendous workforce challenge. We need a lot more educated young people in the workforce pipeline. These are young people who are going to add to our economy. Arizona needs bright young people involved in our economic development. So Prop 308 is a way to do that in Arizona without raising taxes.

We need to ask ourselves—What kind of Arizona do we want to live in. Do we want to exclude people at the risk of our economic goals? Or do we want to be a community that keeps our high school graduates in Arizona, sets them up for jobs in Arizona, and keeps them contributing to Arizona’s economy?

A vote for Prop 308 is a vote for a more robust Arizona.
