Recently, Helios Education Foundation’s President and CEO, Paul J. Luna, was honored as one of Arizona Capitol Times’ Education Leaders of the Year. He was recognized for his work on behalf of Arizona students and his contributions to improving education throughout the state.

Mr. Luna was nominated by Mark Joraanstad, Executive Director, Arizona Schools Administrators (ASA). Helios and the ASA are working together to help strengthen superintendent and principal leadership with a focus on equity and drive the shared mission of Latino Student Success throughout our state.

“Paul Luna’s leadership in our state has helped to propel critical conversations about issues of equity and closing the achievement and attainment gaps that currently exist,” said Dr. Mark Joraanstad.  “Helios is also leading the efforts by investing in organizations – like Arizona School Administrators – to develop strategies to increase the success of our Latino students.”

Creating a future where Arizona and Florida students have access to a lifetime of opportunities to succeed in education and improve their communities takes partnership, and we are thankful for all the partners working together with us to make that possibility a reality.

Some of this year’s other nonprofit and philanthropy honorees included Chevy Humphrey, President and CEO, Arizona Science Center, and Tammy McLeod, President and CEO, Flinn Foundation, both honored as Arts and Culture Leaders.

Helios is grateful to the Arizona Capitol Times for highlighting individuals in our community who are leading change and are improving the lives of Arizonans.
