How Achieve Miami is Empowering Students to Achieve Together

South Florida program bridges communities and elevates student voices

Since 2019, Helios Education Foundation has proudly partnered with Achieve Miami to advance educational equity and expand opportunities for students across Miami-Dade County. What began as a single literacy initiative has grown into a dynamic network of programs serving students from kindergarten through college.

At the core of Achieve Miami’s work is Achieve High School, a comprehensive, year-round initiative that encompasses a variety of programs across 11 Miami-Dade public high schools to deliver college and career readiness support, leadership development, financial literacy, field exposure, and more.  

One of its signature initiatives, Achieve Scholars, provides targeted college and career readiness support to sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Title I high schools across Miami-Dade County. Scholars participate in workshops and individualized check-ins with school-based Success Coaches, focusing on the college application process, free test preparation, academic advising, mentorship, and leadership training that equips them for success after graduation.

The results speak for themselves: Nearly all Achieve Scholars earn university acceptances, and most secure significant scholarships that make higher education attainable.  

In 2020, Helios awarded a $1 million grant to Achieve Miami to expand the Achieve Scholars program in high-need South Florida communities, develop a robust evaluation system to measure impact, and strengthen the organization’s capacity to serve even more students. Helios renewed its commitment to Achieve Miami’s efforts in 2024, further helping to advance the nonprofit’s programs, data collection and analysis capabilities.

As Helios celebrates 20 years of impact, its partnership with Achieve Miami stands as a powerful example of collaboration in action — one that’s empowering students to lead, learn, and achieve together.
