Helios Education Foundation Statement on Atlanta and Boulder Shootings

Helios Education Foundation is focused on empowering first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students in both Arizona and Florida to leverage the transformational power of education. 

While our Foundation’s focus centers on students, we acknowledge their success is interwoven with the communities in which they live. Recent events in both Atlanta and Boulder are sobering reminders that our students’ ability to succeed is impacted not only by the quality of their teacher or the strength of their curriculum, but also by whether they are safe. The tragic loss of life resulting from recent shootings causes us to mourn, reflect, and seek to understand the underlying issues that prompt these tragic events.

Helios stands in support of both Atlanta and Boulder during this challenging time. We urge the federal government and all state and local governments to ensure that the learning environment in our communities is a safe environment that fosters success for all regardless of zip code!
