ASU Helios Decision Center for Educational Excellence Automatic Admission Project

In an effort to encourage high school students to stay focused on entering college and completing a postsecondary degree, nearly 1,500 high school seniors received acceptance letters from Arizona State University (ASU)– before they even submitted their application.

The ASU Helios Decision Center for Educational Excellence Automatic Admission Project utilizes data about course taking and academic achievement to identify which students are on track for admission to Arizona State University.  The  goal of this project is to help students understand that college is within their reach and they have met the criteria of ASU for admission. These students are then directed to the university’s financial aid officers to apply for financial aid and enrollment counselors to fill out the enrollment paperwork.

“By sending these automatic admission letters, ASU is letting these students know they have completed the admission requirements and are encouraging them to take the next step in their education journey,”  said Paul J. Luna, President and CEO, Helios Education Foundation.

The ASU Helios Decision Center for Educational Excellence is a partnership between Helios Education Foundation and Arizona State University and provided the data analysis for this project. This project was  a pilot/proof of concept with ASU and Phoenix Union High School District and now is being expanded to other schools statewide in partnership with University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.

Increasing college completion is a priority for Helios Education Foundation and aligns directly with our five-year impact strategy. Arizona and Florida have rallied around attainment goals of 60 percent by 2030. This initiative and the work of the ASU Helios Decision Center for Educational Excellence are helping to meet those ambitious goals.
