Helios Education Foundation was recently profiled by the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) in its report Staying Connected: How Five Foundations Understand Those They Seek to Help. The report is based on other CEP research that indicates that foundation leaders believe learning from the experiences of those they are ultimately trying to help holds a great deal of promise for increasing foundation impact. However, CEP research also shows that both funders and grantees alike don't always see this learning happening.
The report profiles five foundations who focus on understanding the needs of their intended beneficiaries. The foundations profiled are: The Nord Family Foundation in Amherst, Ohio; the Duke Endowment in Charlotte, NC; the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation in Owing Mills, MD; SC Ministry Foundation in Cincinnati, OH; and Helios Education Foundation.

The report also includes interviews with three of Helios' grantees: Expect More Arizona, Florida College Access Network and College Success Arizona highlighting the Helios and grantee relationship.
