The Florida College System is pleased to announce the Florida Student Success Center, to support Florida’s state and community colleges’ efforts to develop student-centered pathways and increase student completion rates. Helios Education Foundation made this initiative possible with a $1 million grant.
“The Florida College System provides Floridians with exceptional post-secondary education opportunities, and the Helios Education Foundation’s generous donation will enable us to enhance students’ educational experiences,” said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. “The Student Success Center will help students achieve their career goals and place a spotlight on the crucial role our state colleges play in preparing students for success.”
Bringing together leadership, faculty and staff from Florida’s 28 colleges is critical as Florida continues to build upon effective student success and completion strategies. The Center will serve colleges as a resource for up-to-date and innovative information and provide opportunities to learn from one another through convenings.
“Enhancing Florida’s strong state college system with a Student Success Center of this caliber will enrich students’ postsecondary experience, leading to an increase in degree attainment and a more robust workforce,” said Paul J. Luna, President and CEO of Helios Education Foundation.
"The Florida College System has a long history of implementing strategies designed to promote student learning and success,” said Valencia College President Sandy Shugart. "This meaningful work will ensure the Colleges have an even greater impact on student success and we thank Helios Education Foundation for their vision and support."
“The Florida Student Success Center is a testimony to the innovation and excellence for which our colleges have been nationally recognized,” said Florida College System Chancellor Madeline Pumariega.
