Helios Education Foundation Hires Stacy Carlson
As Vice President and Director of Transition Years

Helios Education Foundation President Paul Luna today announced that Stacy Carlson has been hired as the Foundation’s Vice President and Director of Transition Years. In her new role, Ms. Carlson will work in conjunction with the Foundation’s community investment team to identify new partnership opportunities and implement the Foundation’s strategic investment goals in Florida. She comes to the Foundation with close to 10 years of experience in foundation development, educational advocacy and nonprofit capacity building.

Helios Education Foundation Receives “Champion of Children” Award
Take Stock in Children has awarded Helios Education Foundation its highest honor for education leadership. Florida Governor Charlie Crist presented the Foundation’s Chairman, Vince Roig, with the 2008 Champion of Children Award at the Rally in Tally. The award recognizes the Foundation’s commitment to education and leadership in support of programs and initiatives aimed at postsecondary education success for students. (See More)

Barbara Ryan Promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Helios Creates Endowed Scholarship Fund for University of South Florida to Benefit Underserved Populations

As part of Helios Education Foundation’s commitment to opening the door to postsecondary education opportunities, the Foundation recently announced a $2 million gift to the University of South Florida (USF), creating the Helios Education Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund. (See More)

Helios Invests in Civics Training Program for Middle School Teachers in Florida

Helios Education Foundation is partnering with the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship to implement a statewide professional development training program for middle school teachers. As a result of Helios' investment of more than $550,000, the Center will be offering weekly training programs for middle school teachers throughout Florida during the summers of 2008 and 2009. Helios Invests $6.5 Million to Cultivate New Scientific Talent in Arizona

Arizona Governor Janet Naplitano and TGen's President and Scientific Director, Dr. Jeffrey Trent, joined Helios Education Foundation Chairman, Vince Roig, in announcing a $6.5 million investment by Helios in the 'Helios Scholars Program at TGen'. The gift, which will endow the innovative program for the next 25 years, was announced at a press conference at TGen on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. The goal of the program is to cultivate new scientific and technical talent across the state of Arizona. (See More)

Paul J. Luna Promoted To President and Chief Executive Officer

After just over a year as president of Helios Education Foundation, Paul J. Luna is assuming the role of CEO as well. Along with a new title, Mr. Luna takes on an additional set of duties, including providing visionary leadership to the Foundation as it strategically invests its human and financial resources across the education continuum. Helios Opens Tampa Office

At an evening event on September 20, 2007, Helios Education Foundation welcomed nearly 100 business and education leaders to celebrate the opening of our Florida office. The new site will be the hub of the Foundation’s efforts to impact education issues across the state of Florida. (See More)
